The Doctors

The Partners

Dr Graham Hagan

Dr Hagan is the senior partner at the practice and has been here since 1989. He attended Maidstone Grammar School and studied medicine in London at St Georges Hospital.
He was trained on the Maidstone GP Training Scheme. Since starting at the practice he has also worked at Maidstone Hospital as a Clinical Assistant in Anaesthetics and Rheumatology.
He is a GP Trainer and GP Appraiser. Over the years he has been Chairman of the local Practice Based Commissioning cluster of practices, a member of Kent Local Medical Committee and a member of the West Kent PCT prescribing sub-committee.
He is the complaints, prescribing and dispensary lead for the practice. His other medical interests include cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal medicine, including rheumatology.

Dr Andrew Taylor
MB ChB  

Dr Taylor originates from South Africa, where he completed his medical training in Cape Town.
After a year as Doctor in the South African Army, he worked in Orthopaedic Surgery before training as a GP in Ashford. He joined the practice in May 1999.
He has a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine, orthopaedics and dermatology.
He performs Minor Operation procedures including skin cancer procedures, referred from west Kent.
Dr Taylor is lead for the nursing team, computer practices, audits, quality control and the GP contract.

Dr Andrew Reed

Dr Reed joined the partnership in 2006. He attended Maidstone Grammar School and studied medicine in London at The Royal Hospitals, The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals. He was trained on the Maidstone GP Training Scheme.  He is also keen to continue the training ethos of the Practice and became accredited as a GP Trainer in 2009.
Dr Reed has experience in practising General Practice in Secure Environments and works a sessional GP in various HMP Prisons in Kent. He also works as Clinical Advisor to NHS England (Kent & Medway area) helping the team with investigations into concerns over GPs and Deaths in Custody.
He is an accredited GP with Special Interest in Skin Surgery and Skin Cancer Surgery, holding a once weekly Surgical session at Len Valley Practice. Within these sessions various aspects of surgery are undertaken including removal of skin lesions - both non-cancerous and cancerous, biopsies of lesions, cyst and lipoma removal,  joint injection (shoulder, knee, fingers and toes), in-growing toe nail removal, and carpel tunnel injection.
Dr Reed also has experience in invasive cosmetic facial injections  (anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler) which he performs on a private basis.

                      Dr Nicholas Kendrew

Dr Kendrew attended the Math School in Rochester and studied Medicine in London at University College London Medical School.  He was then trained on the Maidstone GP Training Scheme.
He was a Partner at Stockett Lane Surgery in Coxheath from 2006-2014. He became accredited as a GP Trainer in 2011.
Dr Kendrew has worked with the West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group on the Urgent Care project for admissions avoidance.  He has also worked as a GP in Accident & Emergency.
He is interested in medicine in the media, and especially how health promotion can benefit us all.
Dr Kendrew became a partner in July 2016.

Dr Lee Welsh
Dr Welsh studied medicine in Aberdeen and went on to do his house officer training between there and Inverness.
He moved to Kent in 2012 to join the Maidstone GP training scheme and completed his training here under Dr Hagan before moving to Yalding to work there for 18 months as a salaried GP. He missed us, however and returned here in May 2017.
He is hoping to train in minor surgery. Dr Welsh became a Partner in July 2017.

Salaried GP's

Dr Sarah Westerbeek

Dr Westerbeek moved to London and studied medicine at Kings College London Medical School. I also obtained a BSc in Clinical Psychiatry at The Institute of Psychiatry during that time. After medical school she worked in West London at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital before undertaking her GP training in Kingston. After qualifying as a GP she joined The Heathbridge Practice in Putney, South West London as a salaried GP and has now joined Len Valley Practice after moving to the area. 
She enjoys all aspects of General Practice but has particular interests in Psychiatry and Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Dr Eason 
BSc (Hons), BM BS
Dr Eason was born and brought up in Maidstone. He was Head Boy of Maidstone Grammar School and a former Mid-Kent Young Musician of the year. After studying and working in London and the Southwest, Dr Eason has come home to train in General Practice. He is aiming to pursue a Special Interest in Surgery. He has sat on the Local Faculty Group as a Trainee Representative. Away from work, Dr Eason enjoys sport and music.​
Dr Helene Mayala


Dr Helene Mayala grew up and went to school in Essex. She studied Medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine, completed her foundation training years in Chelmsford and following on from this started GP Training in Maidstone. She is a very hardworking and caring doctor. When not at work she enjoys running and spending time with family and friends.

Specialist Practitioners

Pauline Royer       (RGN, BSc)
Pauline has specialist training to deal with minor illness that traditionally only the doctor has been able to deal with.  She also specialises in COPD and Asthma care.  She is able to assess patients and provide a range of treatment options including prescribing medications and referral to specialists.  Pauline works closely with the doctors and other clinicians.  Please do not hesitate to contact her by phone if you are unsure about whether she can help you.


Sarah Gardner

Sarah trained at St Thomas' Hospital in 1977. Since then she has worked in many roles both in hospital and in the community including Cardiology, Neurology, Health Visiting, Contraception .
She has worked in general practice for the past 10 years and enjoys all areas of this work. Her specialist areas are Diabetes, Hypertension, Contraception and HRT, and minor illnesses. She is able to insert and remove contraceptive implants and start patients on Insulin.


Practice Nurses

Jackie Hehir

Jackie trained at Guy's Hospital in 1983 and worked on various wards there until 1992. she then moved to Maidstone and worked at Maidstone Hospital on the Elective Orthopaedic Ward and was then promoted to Sister in 1999 and moved to Trauma Orthopaedics.  She joined the team at Len Valley Practice in July 2005 and loves her new role. Her special interest is wound care and management.
Jackie can give travel advice, contraceptive advice, undertake all dressing reviews and wound care, diabetic checks, asthma checks, weight monitoring, blood pressures checks, medication reviews, ear syringing, ECGs, Spirometry and all other nursing duties.
Sam Coyle
Sam qualified in 2019. This is her first placement in general practice.
She is qualified for suture removal, wound care, ECG's and phlebotomy.
She will be developing her skilss over her time with us.

Jackie Coyle
Jackie qualified as a nurse in 2016 having undertaken her training at Christ Church University, Canterbury.
Jackie joined Len Valley Practice in January 2019. She has experience in Primary Care as a Practice Nurse and has gained knowledge in a range of Nursing duties icluding travel advice, ECG's, Ear Syringing, immunisations, wound care and ulcer management, suture removal, doppler and womens health.
Jackie has a special interest in Diabetes, having completed her Diabetes diploma in 2018.


Healthcare Assistant

Rachel Cursley

Rachel started at Len Valley in 2010 as a receptionist. She gained experience in taking blood and assisting with minor ops at another practice. In 2015 she completed her qualification as an HCA, and now takes bloods, assists with minor surgery, does ECG’s, blood pressures, new patient checks, health checks, and audiograms, here.




Lindsey Deacon

Routine blood test appointments can be made with our Phlebotomist via reception, well in advance if needed. Appointments are available every morning, some from 8am, and early afternoon. 


The Administrative Team

Practice Manager

Elaine Moles-Hawley
The Practice Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the practice and, in liaison with the Partners, deals with finance, HR, premises, health and safety, policies and procedures and patient services administration.

Practice Co-ordinator

Carol's coordinating role allows the practice to run smoothly whilst the Practice Manager is away. She assists with the day to day administration as well as working on developments with the Practice Manager.

Practice Administrator

Margaret has worked at Len Valley for many years and she has a wealth of experience across all areas.  She helps with the smooth running of the surgery and has many administrative duties.

The dispensing team are responsible for the administration of repeat prescriptions requests and dispensing  medication for our dispensing patients.
They also arrange the medication for the NOMADS scheme, which allows us to dispense for the local care homes.

The receptionists are the ladies that you speak to if you wish to book an appointment over the phone or come into the surgery, or if you have any general enquiry.  The receptionists endeavour to do their best for you and at times will be dealing with numerous tasks at the same time.  They do various other duties from liaising with doctors, district nurses and other associated professionals, booking house calls, giving out results, as well as sending various letters to patients with regard to results.  Steph is our lead receptionist and as well as overseeing the reception department, she also deals with all aspects of medical and insurance reports. Lindsey's other role is coordinating the clinicians’ rota.


Administration and new patient responsibility

Sue is responsible for summarising the new patient notes that come into the surgery, and for general administration.

Alison assists the Practice Manager in maintaining the surgery accounts.

Community District Nurses

Gareth Johnson and Team
Referrals to the District Nurses are made by the GP or the Hospital. As well as direct nursing care the District Nurses will advise and assist carers looking after ill relatives or friends. They will also refer to other agencies of care such as; The MacMillan Nursing services, Social services, Night Shared Care, Help the Aged, Home equipment loan point and the occupational therapist.



Mandi Alderson
Mandi is available for all antenatal care and also the postnatal care for up to 2 weeks after delivery. She holds weekly surgeries alternatively at both Lenham and Harrietsham. Mandi can be contacted by phoning (01622) 729000 ext 431 from 08:30 to 16:30 daily. A 24 hour emergency line to a midwife is also available through the Maidstone Hospital. Phone (01622) 729000 and ask to speak to the staff on Antenatal Ward.

Antenatal classes are available day or evening at the hospital via a booking system arranged via Julia. We like to offer an extensive Obstetric programme including home birth option and early discharge from hospital.



The Age UK Footcare specialist is able to help with those over 65 year patients who are unable to look after the every day care of their feet for whatever reason including Diabetic care. Please contact reception for more details.

We also have a visiting podiatrist available to deal with all foot related problems specific to our patients with diabetes. Again, please contact receptions for further information.
