As we are a rural practice, we are allowed to dispense prescriptions to patients who live more than 0.6km as the crow flies from a dispensing pharmacy. For any patient within that boundary, prescriptions will need to be taken to a community pharmacy.
All repeat prescriptions are subject to regular review by the doctors to assess whether routine blood tests, blood pressures etc are required. There are strict guidelines on the monitoring of many drugs; the doctors at Len Valley Practice take this very seriously to ensure there is no adverse impact on your health.
The majority of patients who have repeat medications will have had a Clinical Management Plan tailored to their specific medical problems and medications. The plan allows coordinated recall for medication reviews, the necessary blood tests and other tests to be undertaken. This is sometimes followed by a review with the patients usual doctor, either by surgery or telephone appointment.
The Clinical Management Plan is attached to your record and usually involves six monthly or yearly visits to the practice for the necessary tests. We hope that this cuts down the number of routine appointments required for many patients, as well as patients time.
Those patients for whom we dispense, your items will be ready within 4 working days from the time of request.
Those patients for whom we do not dispense, please allow 2 working days to collect your prescription.
Pre-Payment Certificate (PPC)
For those patients on 2 or more medications per month, it is possible to apply for a pre-payment certificate. this works like a season ticket and allows you to pay for medication in advance.
